Had a loud mouth the other week belittling the venerable 30-30. I got kinda upset and told him he had no idea what he was talking about. Saying it was good to 100m. Told him I got mine ranged in at 200m, scoped and would and has taken deer at that range no worries. He started to back down when challenged. Some people are so fast with their mouths that their brains (IF THEY HAVE ANY) can not keep up.

I've got one centerfire hunting rifle (Not counting a couple of C&R military rifles). It's a 30/30.

One hunting rifle You better get cranking CB. You need a 35 Remington, 444, 45-70, 450, 44 mag, 357 mag, 30-06, 270, etc., etc., etc.

I guess there are cartridges that kick harder or shoot flatter but none have taken more deer that the 30-30. It's been around over a hundred years and will be around longer than many introduced in the last decade. As for the 20yr old...make mine a 40 year old, there is no substitute for experience
