Can anyone comment on the expansion of the LE bullet in 30-30 on game? I hear the Core-Lokts and Power-Points open up nicely.

not a game picture, however this filled plastic bottle was hit with a Hornady 160 L.E. at 100yds. impact was around the area where the bottle starts to round over toward the neck. Force of the impact blew the bottom out in the process. Hope this gives you some idea.Mr fixit

Can't say on game as I never recovered a bullet, but in my testing against 150PP and 170 CL, in a bale of dry kraft paper, the LE had more penetration and a way bigger wound channel. The LE drops deer with authority, again, compared to the CL and PP.
The LE is now my primary hunting round.

Nuff said.

VTDW, that's what they look like huhLooks good to me, I know it's a good round and accurate as all get out if the person behind the trigger does their job. Still haven't gotten to the range to see where they impact at 200 yds, I just gotta know!!
Thanks for the pics. Mr fixit

Yep, read that on Hornady's web site. Is his the SS w/24" barrel? It's the only one I see on Marlins web site, I need to know how things work coming out of my 20" barrel, though I expect not a whole lot of difference in drops, but groups may tell a different story. I'll find out soon, sure would like to be confident enough to be able to take that kind of shot if need be. 4" group @ 300 I would say very respectable! nice shooting.Mr fixit

LE groups very well in my 30-30 with 20" bbl. No experience with using it on game, yet.
Others were reporting very good performance on deer last season.

at 100yds, I have put a couple clover leafs in the bullseye before. No doubt that it is an excellent round, just need to see what it does at 200yds. Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry said "A man has got to know his limitations"![]()
second target was to measure possible point of impact using the mil-dots on the scope, so accordingly 2nd mil=200yds and 3rd mil should=300yds or there abouts. Mr fixit
