    Marlin 30-30, 30AW same as the 336?

My Marlin 30-30 is the Model 30AW. Anybody know if it is the same as a 336? I bought it brand new at Wal Mart in 1988. It still looks brand new. I have shot several deer with it. The only ammo that I have used is Remington 170 grain Core Loct. I really want to try the new Hornady LeverRevolution ammo. But will it shoot more accurate than the Remington ammo? Or is it designed to be used in the new Marlin 30-30's?
    Thanks, gearyr.

Yep, it's a 336. As to whether or not the new Hornady stuff will out shoot the Remington in your rifle -- who knows? Only way to know for sure is to buy some and try it.

    Marlin 30-30, 30AW same as the 336?

The Hornady LE ammo groups 5/8 to 3/4 inch at 100 yds from my nephew's 30AW (used to be mine, but that story has been told). My 336CS, unfortunately, does not do nearly as well with the Hornadys or any other factory ammo, but I'm still working on it.

Yep, it's the same gun except for some cosmetic details. Try the LE ammo. My Revelation 200 (house-brand Marlin 336 made for Western Auto) shoots the new ammo, AND almost any other factory ammo, very well.

    Marlin 30-30, 30AW same as the 336?

Yup... The 30AW is a 336 (although just a bit cheaper priced, and not all fancy).

I have a 30AS that I bought from a co-worker who owned it for years. It is a sweet shooter and seems to have a strong preference for Winchester 170gr Silvertips and Remington Core-Lokt 170's too.

    Edit: Here's my 30AS model....

    Marlin 30-30, 30AW same as the 336?

Yeah, I know about the strange color.... That is my ugly living room carpet and a blinding flash of a 35mm camera. Then got the picture scanned, and then had to tinker with it with Jasc's PaintShop Pro. I did something stupid in there and somehow changed the color to some gay pinkish tint....

But, yea, the Marlin 30AS is a sweet shooter. Poor old thing sat in a closet for years, until that coworker buddy of mine sold it to me.
