I shoot those hyphenated caliber rifles. Such as 30-30, 25-35, 38-55, 44-40, 45-70, etc. Did I forget any? What about the fine old 35-Rem. and the powerful 375-Win. can we include them?![]()

Yes, the venerable old 32-40 for one!

Since you included the 44-40, then I'll assume the 38-40 and 25-20 should be included.

Or you could call them 25WCF, 38WCF 44WCF for 25-20 38-40 or 44-40

This could go on for quite a while. I believe there was a 25-55. also when you get out of winchester calibers, you get into things like 38-50 Remington which although it sounds smaller than a 38-55, is actually bigger, holding 5 more grains of black powder than the 38-55. Roughly the size of a .303 Brit but longer.
Then the 45s just marched out there ten grains at a time to 45-90, 45-100 amd 45-110 or you could go shorter with 45-60 or 45-65.
And then the old Ballard 44-70. 44-77 and on and on.

I guess the .32 Special has no dog in this hunt.![]()
Those old school cartridges with hyphenated names just "feel right". I shoot the 30-30 and 44-40.
If you're going to mention the 25-35, don't forget Marlin's 25-36!

Sure it does but you need to write it as 32 hyphen Spec. or 32-Spec.Originally Posted by FredT

Uh...add the 25-20 and 32-20 to your list! Yeah I love them hypenated calibers but I also own a Marlin 375 and soon a Marlin in 218 Bee will be arriving here. As long as it be a Marlin it's ok with me!
T-o-m that hypenated guy

I have a Marlin Ballard in 38-50 Then in the 1881 a 40.60 and the 45-85.
Between those 3 you could sell everything and happily hunt any critter on our side of the world.
Mike in Peru God Bless you.
