FYI ..... .38-55 Starline brass on sale at Midway

thought I'd pass along two items I saw in the most-recent MidwayUSA sale flyer.

    Starline .38-55 WCF, 2.082", per 50 = $24.99
    Starline .38-55 WCF, 2.125", per 50 = $30.49

    Cheers,

    Carl

(data updated and corrected on 27 July 2010 .... sorry about my typo ).

Why put something on sale you don't have in stock?

Why not just go to Starline directly and put your name on the list ...

I'm on the Starline list waiting for 500 of the longer stuff. Luckily the Winchester stuff shoots well in my rifle so I have something to play with while I patiently wait....

Ok, From every post I have seen here Starline is the best brass for 38-55. Midway and Buffalo Arms is out and Starline says they will make more when the backorders accumulate. Now what?? What is the next best alternative?? I don't see any estimated time on the Starline site before they make more. Maybe fireforming 38special brass Seriously though, what brand would be a good replacement until the Starline comes out.?

Winchester brass is available and works fine in at least three 1894 CB's I'm aware of. There is a shop out my way that had a bunch of it for about $30/50 including tax. I think they do mail order too.

Due to the voracious appetites these rifles have you would do well to buy at least 100. I'm on the Back Order list for 500 with starline and I just bought another 50 Winchester as all my other brass is on its fifth and sixth reloadings...

Uh don't you mean fireforming 30-30 brass Muleman? 38 special brass be just a tad to short! I hope I am one of the lucky ones when my Cowboy gets here in that it will take most any brass.

All I shoot is reformed .30-30 brass. Cheap and plenty of it at the range for the picking up. Hardly anyone saves .30-30 brass. I don't fireform it, I put a .375 H@H mag expander inside Lee's universal decapping die and resize them in one pass. Lose very few cases. Cases have a wasp like waist but after one firing with my standard load they are fine, and shoot to the same point of impact as previously formed shells.
