I don't know if anyone has seen the 2012 catalog, but the 338ME is no more, hope it's not true, also missing is the 444, and the 1894 stainless guns.
This wouldn't be good news , but it won't affect my ownership any. lt's a great caliber and a great gun.
It might just be true. I was on the phone yesterday with one of the techs at Hornady and he had said word was that the 338 Marlin Express was not to be in 2012. Guess the whiz bang boys at Remington are not as smart as they thought they were.

I don't post much..................................the338ME is the best levergun caliber to be introduced in years as most Here know.Marlington will surely screw this up as well. Sad but true.
Seems like I'm on the phone to Hornady for one thing or another evey couple weeks. The last few months I always asked about the lighter weight MonoFlex for the 338 Marlin. Before they have always said. "it is coming soon." Last call they said no MonoFlex for the 338. Guess that's another sign the 338 may well be gone for sure.
Just got a NIB 910xx .338MX to go with my .308MX. Boy I'm glad I found a good one when I did. Sounds like it's time to start stocking up on brass!

Well dang! This pi$$e$$ me off......probably ammo shortage coming. I'm not equipped for reloading!!
What a sad sad day for Marlin. I'm so glad I got one of the originals and reload. Have to now begin to stack up on brass and bullets!
As the 'real' Marlin company died when thigs moved to Illion, does anyone doubt that things are going to continue to erode? My only problem is my 444 marlin is a 94 packer version. I have been holding out for an old boat paddle 444 but guess I better buy one now!
That would really upset me. For the area I live in, if I could only own one Marlin lever, the 338 would cover all bases for me. I think it's one of the better cartridges released in the last 30 years. DP
