I apologize ahead of time if I'm posting this in the wrong place. I've read stickies and searched the forums, but I can't find the answer to this question: Is there any where I can buy a 338 MXLR? I asked my wife to get me one for Christmas a couple of months ago and just found out that she's been trying ever since to find one. I already stocked up on ammo, having read outdated posts that mentioned a shortage. I would prefer a new rifle, but a used one in good condition would be fine too.
Apparently, she called Marlin too, and was told that they won't be shipping any new ones until next fall - if they make it at all!
Any help in tracking down a 338 MXLR would be extremely helpful - I'm feeling kind of guilty that I asked for such a tough find.

You don't want a new one from Remlin. Search gunsamerica.com or other sites for a JM stamped Marlin.

Bear in mind , regardless of any hassles , it will be worth it.
If I were you, I would start a new thread down in the "Trading Post" section in the "Rifles: Wanting to buy/Wanting to sell" section and post exactly what you are looking for. I would also ask for a serial number that starts with 93XXXX as that production year should avoid any issues with problematic rifles made after the Remington onslaught. Though I am no expert on the MX or MXLR rifles, it might be possible to still get a quality rifle in the 92XXXX year of manufacture.
This is how I found my 93XXXX .308 ME rifle that I am very pleased with though I have yet to fire it. Good luck to you.

Not shipping til next fall? A lot of potential customers will move on to another model of Marlin or manufacturer by them methinks. If they're pushing it that far back, I won't be surprised if it gets axed before then, though I hope not.

Good luck on your quest for the 338 MXLR. Mines a 92 serial number and has been perfect. Even if it's Christmas in July, it'll be worth it. Post here as was stated and check the gun auction sites dailey. I wouldn't sell mine for what I paid for it 2 years ago, new. They are that damn good when they are put together right. IF you find one, not gonna be cheap. AND, welcome to Marlin Owners!!! DP
