Am I the last idiot to learn that T/C has the 308ME in the Pro-Hunter? I just sent them an email to ask if they plan on putting the 338ME on that line as well. My two favorite rifles are Marlin Lever actions and T/C Encore Pro-Hunters. I guess i know what my next barrel is going to be...308ME. Oh Yeah.

Never knew that any other gun maker made rifles for that caliber. I need to check them out. Thanks.
The Gene Pool is in need of a lot of Chlorine!
Better yet, drain the entire pool!
They did have a custom barrel program where they would make barrels for most calibers upon request. The exception being the bigger calibers, I'm not sure what they went up to though.
No Mikeflies your not an idiot, I had no idea they had them either, and after reading your post I went to T/Cs website and still couldn't find it. lol
I will give it another look and see what I missed.

It would be pretty sweet if they made an AR upper receiver that could shoot it also. I would think it would be possible since the cartridge isn't very long.
I have had an encore barrel in 308me for several years. I bought it cheap when someplace was closing them out. As much as I love my 308mx, I don't see any real advantage to this barrel over a regular 308 in an encore. it's obviously immensely practical in a lever gun, but the single shot can be chambered in anything you want without regard to length, bullet type or pressure. I will say that the 308me barrel does shoot well.
I think the 338ME would be the ticket! Would love to see some other guns chambered for this cartridge so that bullets other than the FTX could be used.

338 MX...It's not your father's lever action!
I have entertained thoughts of an Encore for years. If they actually did the 338ME barrel, that might push me over the edge.
Of course I would also have to get the 308ME and a muzzy barrel and a 7mm (Mag and 08 ) and and and, you see where this is going

Magnum Research makes a revolver that shoots some of the lever rounds also. Last time I checked they had them in .30-30, 45-70, and the .450 marlin.if it wasnt so big, it would make a good sidearm piece to carry if you had the same caliber rifle.
Yes, both the encore and contender make excellent rifles. I have quite a few and they tend to be exceptionally accurate. The interchangeable barrels are just the thing for a cartridge-nut like me. The problem is every barrel requires a new scope and mounts which gets very expensive. "Oh, I'll just pick up that cheap barrel" doesn't work out so well. But, darn it, they still get me now and then for a new one...
