1894 stainless 44 mag synthetic stock 18' barrel, 1 of 351 IS IT VALUABLE?

I have this fine rifle unfired, and have the original box. At the time this was kinda special. I also had a similar winchester trapper model in blue that I sold to a co-worker. Just wanted to know the value of the marlin, I don't really want to sell it but eventually, I would like to shoot it. My intention was to go pig hunting with a thompson contender in 44 mag and use this one for backup. I have a certificate from davidsons stting that it 1 (not first) of 351. regards

Funny all these 94s are selling for more than they should. Remington has really bit the big one. Thier inability to produce this gun in good working condition has placed a remium on even the commone everyday used rifles. One day Remington will either get their act otgather and these prices are gonna drop, or they will abandon production of this gun as we know it and these things will go up even more.

Your gun will alway be worth more than say and 18" in equal condition but if you are going to shoot it and use it then it doesn't matter. Once you put marks on it and reduce its appearance you also tend to reduce the premium it will bring over that 18" rifle in the same beat up condition.

Me I take them out and shoot them, rarely clean them and enjoy the heck out of them. I do not care if they have collectors value if I want to use them I do. If I do not use them they eventually get sold anyway and replaced with something I will use. Thats why my gun collection doesn't get much bigger than it is now and I hafve about 5 I want to sell. but if you want it to maintain the highest possible value you need to just leave it in the safe. I just can't do that but its your gun and your investment.

If you do decide to sell it post it here and one of these marlin nuts will give you a fair price for it.

    Sir,

If it's an "LTD", its worth over $1100 every single day of the week. The auction sites will support this estimate.

I definitely don't agree with this statement "selling for more than they should". I think they are selling for exactly what they are worth.

Actually there is a name for those guns with 18 FOOT BARRELS! ! ! They are called PUNT GUNS ! ! !

As to your LTD you should keep it and shoot it and keep it clean like I do mine. I do not think my Marlins have lost any value with me shooting them and in fact I have received offers on my fired guns all more than I paid for them.

In particular my 336 ZANE GRAY and 39AWL - - - - I bought them both they were NEW IN BOX - but I do not believe in SAFE QUEENS so I shoot them both......

You may be right Gater but I do not think Remington will ever get Marlin right and our REAL MARLINS will continue to rise in cost like old Winchesters and Colts have. But since I plan to keep all my Marlins till they get passed down to my grandkids what they cost is not much important to me now. But I have sold a couple of the duplicates like a 336SS and 1894CSS and I made a couple hundred extra off each of those - - enuff to buy another rifle and money in the PIGGY BANK for a AR-15 target rifle once I figger out what I want . . . .
