Picked up a 1983 1894C 357 Mag today by pure luck

A coworker had this 1894C 357 Mag since he bought it new in 1983. He knew I liked Marlin levers and promised to bring it for a look-see since I had never seen one. He brought it by today and told me to make him an offer--I was sure surprised. The rifle was pristine except for a missing Marlin bullseye, a small scratch in the upper tang and the adjacent wood, plus a buggered tang screw. He knew what they were worth--so I offered him 600 bucks. He accepted and told me he hadn't shot the rifle in about 10 years. I hope to rectify that very soon.

Thanks guys! These rifles are going for far more on GB. I didn't want to pay those type of prices but knew I wasn't going to get this for 300 bucks. I think we both did OK. I never thought I would ever own one of these.

Nice find! I never seem to run into situations like that. I am glad someone does though!
