    1894FG - I hate temptation

Local shop has a used (98%) FG for $395. It's sooo tempting. May justneed to grab this now as a lay-a-way gun. (20% down - 60 days to pay) Got about 15 hours to decide before I call in ahold on it.

Don't wait until tomorrow and say "Man, I wished I would have..."

    Hindsight is always 20/20.

I didn't buy a 1894 in .41 the first time Marlin released them and I had to wait almost 15 years!

Well, I needed to wait until I settled up on a pair of revolvers I'd ordered. The remainder of the funds were to put this FG om hold. Unfortunaetly, someone else grabbed it before I could call and have it set aside. Oh well, They're easy enough to order new.

Oh well. To pour salt in the wound, was it a straight or pistol grip stock? :P

Was the pistol grip stock. Not a big deal like I said. I'd prefer a pstraight grip stock with like a 1/2 mag tube in .41 but any would do.

Did my daily check of the shop's inventory online and WHOA! the 1894Fg is listed again. Evidentally the person that had a hold on it turned it down. too late to call now but I'll be on the phone first thing in the morning to get it held for me. This time it's mine!

Congrats! I was lucky enough to get one in 2005 on special order from Walmart. Everybody was about $430-440 but Walmart had not updated the price in their special order catalog and it was $375. The sporting goods manager had to do a price override and I put it on layaway. Goodie for me! The only thing I didn't like is the wood is darker than I prefer, but it shoots great with a Williams click adjustable receiver sight and front Firesight.

Like you, I spent a lot of years wishing I had picked up one of the original straight grip ones. I would still love to have one. Anybody know how many of them were produced?

Sambo- There are a few people who want to trade their 1894 straight grip stuff for the curved. There is an ad in the "other for sale stuff" forum looking for a trade. Luckily, I found another willing partner to swap goddies with.

Stay tuned, I'll let you know just how easy (or hard) it is to swap.
